HARBIN, CHINA – August 9, 2026 – Dr. Bingjie Liu and graduate student Kun Zhu from the Forest Intelligent Sensing (FIS) research group attended the 15th Cross-Strait Forest Management Symposium, held at Northeast Forestry University in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, from August 8 to 9, 2026. The symposium was hosted by Northeast Forestry University and the Chinese Society of Forestry.
During the symposium, Dr. Liu and Zhu participated in the parallel session on Forest Remote Sensing Monitoring and Precision Inventory. Zhu delivered a presentation entitled “ForestMixNet: A Multimodal Fine-Grained Feature Fusion Framework for UAV-Based Individual-Tree Species Classification.” The presentation introduced the FIS group’s latest research on multimodal feature fusion for accurate tree species classification using UAV data.
The symposium provided a valuable platform for exchanging ideas with researchers and students from across the Taiwan Strait and exploring recent advances in forest remote sensing, precision inventory, and intelligent forest monitoring.
